Overflow Shelter Meals Feed Bodies and Souls

Overflow Shelter Meals Feed Bodies and Souls

THANK YOU to all who contributed over the past four winter months with time for serving, food for feeding, and the heart for caring! Approximately 30 different volunteers from our church were involved in making homelessness less dangerous and lonely for those in our area.
It continues to amaze me that members of faith communities, secular organizations, groups of friends and individual families come together in solidarity with folks who have less and are in need, providing approximately 150 consecutive evenings of warm meals and safe shelter to an average of 20-30 people per night. That’s as many as 4500 servings! WOW!

FOOD COLLECTION FOR LOCAL FOOD PANTRY
Often with warm weather we assume those who are struggling to make ends meet find things easing up. It’s true, heating costs may be a bit less. There are still so many needs unmet. If you find yourself in the grocery store and have the opportunity to use a coupon or a “buy two for the price of one”, consider donating that item to our local pantry. There is a basket in the foyer of the church. When full, it will be taken to the Townshend Food Shelf. Certain items are always appreciated:

soups/pasta dishes
